St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York

St. Patrick Cathedral in New York, NY is one of the most well known churches in the United States and beyond. Designed in gothic revival style by James Renwick, Jr. and dedicated in 1879.

From 2012 until 2015 the cathedral underwent extensive renovations, finished in time for Pope Francis’ visit. These renovations dressed the church in tight scaffolding, inside and out enclosing it in a unique “veil”, a rare and once-in-a-lifetime sight.
I documented this transformation in its different states as well as the beautiful garment the next winter’s snow gave the cathedral.
